About the role
About the Role Join an early-stage legal technology team building AI-powered software for legal workflows. As a Founding Product Engineer, you will work closely with attorneys and AI engineers to develop core product capabilities and help establish engineering practices as the team grows. What You'll Do Build and own full-stack product features, from data models to interfaces used by attorneys and clients. Translate legal workflows and review playbooks into reliable, production-grade software with domain experts and AI engineers. Make pragmatic architecture and tooling decisions that support rapid development and future needs. Write maintainable code, improve reliability, and take responsibility for features in production. Help shape engineering standards, culture, and hiring as the team expands. What We're Looking For Three to four years of professional engineering experience, including experience building and shipping production software at an early-stage company or as a founder. Full-stack skills, including TypeScript and React, a modern backend stack, and relational databases. Hands-on experience building with AI or large language models, professionally or through personal projects. Experience owning features from conception through deployment, making sound engineering trade-offs, and building reliable systems for complex workflows. A completed computer science degree, strong product instincts, and the ability to thrive in a fast-moving environment with ambiguity and minimal process. Experience with legal technology, contract management, document processing, or working directly with domain experts is helpful. Compensation & Benefits Base salary: $140,000 to $180,000 annually. Visa sponsorship is not available. Location On-site in San Francisco, California, six days per week. Relocation is not employer-funded.
