About the role

Health can’t wait . Not for symptoms to get worse. Not for a six‑month appointment. Not for a system to catch up. But that’s exactly how healthcare works today. You wait, until you can’t. Alan exists to end the wait. Health is a universal right, and we believe this right can only become real when it’s coupled with prevention. We need to stop treating health as something we repair and start treating it as something we build, every day. It’s not solely a question of willpower. It’s the healthcare system itself that needs to work for everyone, in a sustainable way. So we are building the new standard in prevention insurance. Alan is the first company that integrates insurance, prevention, and care into a single, acclaimed user experience. We are on an incredible journey to build a global leading company, with a unique culture . We already partner with 40K+ companies of all sizes, serving more than 1M+ members, and have reached €800M+ in ARR. Prevention as the new norm. That's what we're building with our team of 1000+ people. If it speaks to you: we're hiring across France, Spain, Belgium, and Canada. And beyond. The Employment & Labour Law role 🇫🇷 Alan is growing fast: new health services, new entities, new countries, and a 2027 People agenda with social elections and many individual situations. Each of these brings legal obligations, and today we rely mostly on external counsel. In Alan's terms, "compliance" means everything we do to follow a mandatory rule that would become a risk if we got it wrong. The role makes sure Alan's employment practices are legally secure, pragmatic and humane. You will be our in-house expert on French employment and labour law, for both individual and collective matters. You are a People teammate first, with a strong legal foundation. Scope Alan operates in 8 countries. This role is based in France and covers French employment and labour law. It works in tandem with the People Compliance owner, who covers the other countries, and with the International Expansion hire for new country openings. Curiosity for other jurisdictions is a plus, but it is not the core of the role. You will join the People team, work closely with the People Compliance owner, the People lead and the individual situations crew, and be mentored by Alan's Compliance Key Function on how we practise legal topics at Alan. The People team The People team is made up of 13 people who work in an environment shaped by Alan's Leadership Principles. Every one of them is a genuine fan of our products (Culture being one of them) and deeply committed to Alan's Prevention and Health mission. The team covers Learning and Development, Payroll and Admin, Employee Experience and Operational Efficiency, Compliance and Employment Law, Comp and Ben, and M&A and International Expansion. It is a generalist team: everyone shares core missions, including individual situation management and HRBP responsibilities. Then each person owns one or more cross-functional topics depending on their flavour. In your case: French employment and labour law. Your missions On top of the core missions shared across the People team, you will work on a diverse range of high-impact topics: Employment law expertise: be the go-to person on French individual and collective employment law, with a strong focus on working time, night work and on-call rules (astreinte, rest periods), where the rules are strict and a creative, well-grounded approach makes a difference. Legal watch: monitor French labour-law changes, flag what matters for Alan, and use AI agents for legal watch and ongoing compliance checks. Obligations register: turn obligations into simple tools and processes, tracked in a register. Health and safety at work. Audits and inspections: support labour inspections, URSSAF audits and the related compliance reporting. Social dialogue: support the People lead in preparing CSE information-consultations, running the 2027 social elections, and drafting and updating company agreements (working time, profit-sharing, agreements for new services). Corporate structure: work through the People impact of Alan's evolving legal entities, such as which entities sit in the UES and what it means for our agreements. New services: bring a risk-based view early to projects with People impact, such as new health services, and help set up processes that protect Alan while keeping the flexibility and autonomy we want Alaners to have. External counsel: write clear briefs, ask sharper questions, reuse existing frameworks and challenge the advice you receive. Beyond France (occasionally): contribute, when needed, to topics in other countries, alongside the People Compliance owner. Raising the team's expertise: share your legal knowledge with the crew and the wider People team. AI and automation: use them to multiply the impact of your work. Outcomes within your first months in the team By 2.5 months You have contributed to a live CSE topic (e.g. preparing an information-consultation) and to at least one other live topic (e.g. working-time or on-call policy, an agreement for a new service). You have shadowed and been reverse-shadowed on individual situation management. By 5 months You own CSE information-consultations end to end, and a workstream such as a company agreement, with the crew as a sounding board. You are involved in preparing the 2027 social elections. You handle French individual situations without supervision, including the legal analysis. A first legal-watch automation is running. Crew members and leads come to you as the go-to expert on French employment law. Is this what you are looking for? You may be a great fit for this role if: You have a legal background in French employment and social law (e.g. M2 in droit social). You have around 4+ years of hands-on experience applying French employment law, typically in a law firm (ideally international), or you are a lawyer who has already moved into a People role. You master both individual and collective matters. You are excellent in French (negotiation level) and professional in English (our internal processes and documentation are in English). You put context before opinion: you understand how Alan works first, then adapt the playbook instead of applying it as is. You put business value before legal reflex: you start from the outcome and creative options, tell material risk from theoretical risk, and give practical answers. You are comfortable with a scale-up's risk appetite. You have a transversal mindset: a strong anchor in labour law, and real appetite to cover compliance, expansion and other topics. You are autonomous: you take initiative, flag risks early and own your outputs. You are rigorous: your work is precise and your writing is clear and concise. You are curious and coachable: open to feedback, with a clear idea of what you want to learn. You are AI-enthusiastic: you already use AI in your daily work and stay critical of the output. You show judgement and discretion with confidential information and sensitive human situations. Nice-to-have We are not looking for all of the below. Any one of these can be a strong signal. Hands-on experience with CSE meetings, information-consultations, social elections or company agreements. Experience in the health sector, insurance, a regulated environment or a scale-up. M&A or reorganisation experience. Exposure to other jurisdictions (Belgium, Spain). Level range For this opportunity, we are aiming to hire within the C0 - D level range.
