About the role

Overview of Steyn Group: The Steyn Group is a global single family office platform that specialises in private market investments. The Group has established operational and investment platforms across real estate, direct business investment and early-stage investing in the United Kingdom, United States and South Africa. Budgeting, Forecasting & Performance Analysis • Perform the monthly review of actual vs budget together with the Finance Manager, preparing variance analysis and clear commentary to present to the Group. • Lead preparation of the annual budget and periodic reforecasts for allocated entities, working with the Finance Manager and operating teams. • Prepare and maintain rolling cash flow forecasts and monitor liquidity and funding requirements across the portfolio. • Analyse performance at P&L level and develop KPI reporting for the investments and/or entities. • Track private equity and venture capital investments, including capital calls, distributions, valuations and investment performance reporting. • Provide financial guidance and ad hoc analysis (e.g. business cases, cost analysis, scenario modelling) to support decision making. Audit, Compliance & Controls • Prepare audit files and supporting schedules, act as a key contact for external auditors, and assist with the preparation of annual financial statements. • Support statutory and tax compliance (e.g. VAT, provisional and income tax) in liaison with external tax advisers and the Finance Manager. • Maintain and strengthen internal financial controls, approval workflows and segregation of duties; identify and escalate control gaps. • Ensure adherence to regulatory requirements and Group policies across allocated entities. Systems, Process Improvement & Automation • Use NetSuite as the primary accounting system: maintain chart of accounts, entity/subsidiary structures and reporting templates for allocated entities. • Identify and implement process improvements and automation to shorten the close and improve reporting quality. • Build and maintain robust Excel models and reporting tools, with clear documentation of processes and procedures. Stakeholder Management & Collaboration • Report directly to the Finance Manager and work closely with the Global Team and/or stakeholders. • Collaborate with internal staff, operating teams, asset managers and external partners (auditors, tax advisers, banks) to foster synergy and alignment in achieving organisational objectives. • Provide guidance to, and review the work of, the AP and Cash Book function; share knowledge and support the development of junior finance staff. • Assist the Finance Manager and wider finance function with ad hoc queries, reporting and projects.
