About the role
Head of Finance, M-KOPA Mobility Join M-KOPA Mobility , our fast-growing e-mobility business, as we scale clean, affordable transport across Africa. Mobility is growing rapidly, with over 11,000 electric motorbikes financed and 3x year-on-year growth . We’re now looking for a commercially minded Head of Finance to help shape how the business funds, plans and delivers its next phase of growth. This is not a traditional finance leadership role. You’ll sit at the heart of the Mobility business, working closely with the Managing Director and Mobility Leadership Team to turn capital into growth, translate business performance into clear decisions, and build the financial foundations needed to scale. If you enjoy operating in a fast-growing, early-stage environment where finance is a strategic partner to the business — rather than a function sitting on the sidelines — this could be the opportunity for you. The Impact 🌍 Africa’s transport sector is massive, underserved and undergoing a significant shift towards electric mobility. M-KOPA Mobility is helping make clean transport more accessible to riders and entrepreneurs through flexible financing. With over 11,000 e-motorbikes financed , Mobility is already making a measurable difference — helping riders save more than $3 a day and cutting air pollution by 90% compared with petrol equivalents. As Mobility continues to grow, finance will play a critical role in ensuring the business has the capital, insight and financial discipline to scale sustainably. That’s where you come in. The Opportunity 🚀 As Head of Finance, you’ll be responsible for making sure M-KOPA Mobility is financially resourced to grow, that capital is deployed efficiently, and that leadership and investors have a clear view of business performance they can trust and act on. You’ll have the opportunity to: 🎯 Shape capital strategy: Partner with the Managing Director on Mobility’s capital strategy, including funding sources, capital structure and the sequencing of future raises. You’ll own the Mobility financial model and lead the finance work supporting fundraising and investor due diligence. 📊 Own performance and reporting: Give leadership a clear view of how the business is performing, what is driving results and where action is needed. You’ll lead business performance reviews and oversee the financial content of leadership and board reporting. 💡 Drive financial planning: Own Mobility’s annual business plan, budget and financial targets, while building the reporting and insight needed to support better commercial decisions around pricing, retention economics and new market investment. 💰 Lead treasury execution: Work across Mobility and Group Finance to forecast cash and funding requirements and ensure funding and payment execution supports the pace of growth. 🤝 Enable growth through procurement: Lead the Mobility procurement team, balancing speed and cost-efficiency with the governance and controls required within the wider M-KOPA Group. Your Role in Mobility This is a central role serving the Mobility business and you'll be a member of the Mobility Leadership Team . You’ll be the first point of contact for Finance matters raised by the Managing Director, General Manager and Head of Portfolio, bringing financial insight into the decisions that shape the business. You’ll also work closely with Group Finance, leveraging the Group’s accounting backbone while ensuring Mobility’s financial reporting, controls and records meet Group policies and Big 4 audit standards. In short: you’ll help build the financial engine that allows Mobility to scale. What You’ll Bring 💼 We’re looking for a senior finance leader who is comfortable combining strategic thinking with hands-on execution in a fast-moving environment. You’ll ideally bring: 10+ years of finance experience , including senior leadership experience in a fast-growing, capital-intensive or lending business Experience raising debt or equity , from financial modelling and investor materials through due diligence to close Strong experience owning a business plan, budget and financial targets , and holding the business accountable to them Experience leading financial reporting within a multi-entity or group environment , with strong governance and audit standards Experience working with credit or risk teams to connect portfolio performance, priced risk and financial reporting Experience leading teams and operating as a senior business partner , influencing decisions beyond Finance We’re particularly interested in people who can move comfortably between the detail and the bigger picture — someone who can interrogate the numbers, challenge assumptions, communicate with investors and leadership, and translate financial insight into commercial action. Why M-KOPA? 🌍 At M-KOPA, we’re building solutions that expand financial and economic opportunity for people who have traditionally been underserved. Mobility takes that same model into clean transport — helping riders access affordable electric motorbikes that can support their livelihoods while contributing to cleaner cities. As part of M-KOPA, you’ll have the opportunity to work in a purpose-driven, fast-growing business while having real influence over how one of its newest businesses scales. You’ll also be part of a diverse, international organisation with opportunities for development, coaching, flexibility and career growth. Ready to shape the financial future of M-KOPA Mobility?
